Anderson Vaught, Senior Pastor
Andy has served as pastor of Higher Ground Baptist Church during its entire existence. He came to Cresthill Baptist Church (later to become Higher Ground Baptist Church) for the first time in November of 2011 to fill the vacant pulpit in a troubled church and has never left. He was first called as an interim pastor, and then as pastor in 2012. Andy has led the church through dramatic changes, including the “100 Days to a New Church” journey.
Andy's a graduate of Vanderbilt University (B.A.), Vanderbilt University School of Law (L.L.B., J.D.) and Midwestern Baptist Theological Seminary (Master’s Degree in Theology Studies). Prior to his call here, he was the leader of MAGIC, the Senior Adult ministry at Skidaway Island Baptist Church.
Andy is married to Martha Lee, and has three adult children and eight grandchildren. He is also the proud owner of “Pearl the church dog,” an 85 lb. white Labradoodle.
Small Church, Big Vision
There are so many different kinds of church experiences today. Mega-churches offer one valuable experience, smaller churches offer another. If you long for a church where everyone knows you, where people check on you when you are sick, when every person makes a difference, maybe you'll find this is home. We welcome you, and hope you will visit us soon.
